I upgraded to sp2. When i boot my computer, all I have in windows is the
background, no icons or taskbar. I can open IE with the taskmanager. Tried
running the repair option off the xp installation disk, no help. Any ideas?

Was the system clean of malware and operational problems before you
updated? The SP2 update needs a clean, good running system. See these
