With all those complaining about SP2 update woes, I think the feedback should be balanced.
You often hear the bad, seldom hear the good.

On all the platforms that I have installed SP2 on; Dell Latitude, Dell Optiplex GX240, Dell
Dimension 4300, Dell Optiplex GX400, IBM Thinkpad 600e, IBM Thinkpad A21 & IBM Thinkpad
A22 -- I haven't experienced one problem. Each of the above models is representative of
many platforms as all have been Ghosted with Enterprise Ghost v7/v8 and SysPrep v2.0.

The only platform I maintain that has not been done yet are Sony Vaio notebooks, however
based upon my experiences I expect no sequalae.

I've had variable degrees of sucsess, most PC's I've upgraded have had no
issues, 1 pc wouldn't boot, and one PC needed repairing after the install
(firewall wasn;t funtioning correctly.

If you have probs and can't boot after the upgrade, view this article
How to use the Automatic Recovery feature to recover your computer if the
Windows XP Service Pack 2 Setup program is not completed successfully

I have installer SP2 on two VAIO notebooks with no problems at all. But go
to the VAIO website first and get the necessary updates from there. They
should be installed before SP2.

And what do those updates entail ?

I have also had completely no problems on similar computers from Dell and
Gateway...some 20.

I've done three upgrades so far, with one to go. They've ranged from a
fresh out of the box Dell, to an IBM in a home office, to the 3 year old
HP my wife and kids abuse. The last was th eonly one which had any type
of hiccup, and that was a blank desktop after the Security Panel config.
A reboot took care of that. Only one left to do is mine now...

I'm not trying to impress anybody. This is the way I write and speak.

I am trying to impress upon people that not all XP users have problems with WinXP SP2.

However, if I spelled the word incorrectly. So be it. Mea culpa.

Quid pro quo:
Since we are at it -- there is no such word as "gonna" { How very colloquial. } The
correct term would is "going to".

Dave ;-)

ADDENDUM:

I have installed WinXP SP2 on a Sony Vaio PCG-505RTEK and all went great.

But I have to admit -- Sony Vaio notebooks S U C K !
