Hi,

After installing the WXPSP2 on a machine, it will present
a window asking/showing the new features(Windows
firewall, automatic updates, security center, etc...). Is
there a way to get rid of this first-boot-up screen so
that users in a production environment wont even notice
them or shall we say doesn't bothered by it? Maybe some
setup switches on the SP2 that can be added. In other
words, no-user modification or intervention will be
allowed.

Thanks,
Rey

Rey,

If you run your Service Pack 2 network installer with
the /? switch, it will give you a quick dialog box with
all of the switches available. There are both a /passive
and /quiet switch which perform an installation of SP2
without user interaction.

I know that it does not present any dialog boxes or
questions during the installation process, but I do not
know if the security wizard that you are talking about
appear during the next boot. My advice would be to try
one of these switches to see if that does the job quickly
and easily.

Failing that, I would try to figure out if you can trick
SP2 into thinking that it has already run that Wizard. It
may be a value in the
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce
which is calling that wizard (or in a similar key). You
might see if you can just make a quick modification to
change that one key before the reboot.

Good luck (and let us know how it turns out)!
