Please respond to this. My computer no longer boots, something happened to it
when I uninstalled SP2 for XP Home. It must've removed a file, or corrupted
it, or something. All I get after boot, just before the login screen (i never
actually get that far) is a black screen that looks like my monitor is in
standby or something. I can use the XP disc to get the recovery console,
however, I never set a password (it was just a spacebar hit or nothing at
all) and now that it asks for the admin pass I can't enter the recovery
console. It lets me hit return, which allows me to enter the File System, but
from there I am really lost. I need to recover this computer, or reset the
pass, or do something because I really don't care to format it or lose any
data. Please help, I've already tried to install a fresh XP (but it's from
the XP upgrade disc) and also the repair option. Nothing gets past this black
screeen. What is causing this, what could it be? Help me please.
