sp2 restart issue

i just downloaded and installed the sp2 update..
when restarting machine went into a restart loop
looked up tech info and tried to get into safe mode
safe mode starts and then back to this endless loop
tried to recory form previous point nothing
any suggestions??????

thinking of a reformat reinstall sp1 and leave it alone
till sp2 is bullet proff

You've answered your own question. And as for being bullet proof, don't
hold your breath.
 
AMD not sure about motherboard would have to get back to
ya have to dig up paperwork from dell
 
through in the windows cd did not format just intalled
over top.... windows deleted files for me before setup
back to the way it was i read someone else had a problem
with dells and sp2 ... i wonder???????????

It's not just Dell, it's everything. It's creating a huge mess and lot
of hair pulling and some tears.

I too had auto update on and installed SP2 and when i re-booted it ran
through the boot-up process got to the windows screen where it says windows
xp and the little loading bar goes around and around and then a blue screen
comes up and says winsrv is missing so program was terminated. I too have a
Dell computer maybe it is a problem with Dells...
 
I have two Dells, desktop and laptop. Both upgraded seamlessly. I think
the problems come from outdated or non-updated software and drivers, not the
brand.
