I've installed SP2 but my system now just constantly restarts (crashes with a
blue screen when booting Windows - I don't have time to see the error code).
I've tried installing twice now - System Restore will get my computer working
again, but I'd like to understand what is causing this. I am running on an
AthlonXP 3000+ processor and I've already tried editing boot.ini to change
NoExecute to AlwaysOff. Any help appreciated.

Hi.
I'm working on the same problem and it seems that every post link I find
only has
a fix if you have the original XP Cd. My pc came new from Systemax and all I
got was a CD titled "Advanced recovery and diagnostic tools" which, after
several attempts, will boot it up but will only give you 3 options. 1
Hardware testing (which I did... everything passed), 2 complete system
restore (which I did) and 3 Restart (restart only goes to the corrupt
system32\config nightmare).
Searching Microsoft support for "Windows XP registry repair"
I came across a "Windows 2000 registry repair utility" that does reference
XP but does not come right out and state "for XP" (aren't they basically the
same?).
Anyways, from what I gather you
download 6 floppys, then download the repair utility onto disk #1. Then
re-boot starting with that disk.
I copied the disks but would like to double check with someone before I
copied the utility. Here is the link to page

Thanks for any help you can give me! Jeff.
