SP2 problems

my wife and I must be in the 10% then I just uninstalled
it on both of our machines.....neither of us could
download a thing (with the built in firewall off) and
there were web based video issues including,
interestingly enough, hotmail being virtually unusable

I also find it very hard to believe that 90% of computers
are running without problems. I have not yet installed
SP2 and I am going to wait as long as possible before I
do. Does everyone know that by mid December 2004 every
system must have SP2 or they will not have access to MS
patches and updates. If a computer is rendered useless by
SP2, what good is it. What is MS going to do in order to
support these systems that dont function with SP2.

PCWorld reported (about 2 days ago) that ~15% had to completely kill XP
installation, reformat, and start from scratch.
And ~35% had minor issues. Sorry, no link.

Andrew;
What is the sources of this fictitious information:
"Does everyone know that by mid December 2004..."?
I have not heard or seen anything like that at all.
To the contrary what I have heard is about the opposite.

Please cite a reliable source or stop the scare tactics.

Fictitious information? This says it all as far as I am
concerned. Mandatory SP2. Any more questions.

"SP2 distribution via Windows Update Services will be
mandatory on or around December 16th, 2004"

This was quoted from:

nalysis.pdf

AS usual third parties pick up a point and distort it. That is in
relation to corporate use of Update services, that automatically keeps
all machines in a fully updated state: they are being provided a means
whereby they can defer getting SP2 on that until December while getting
other updates.

It does *not* relate to ordinary update if you put that on advise, and
then reject SP2; nor does it mean that there will be no updates provided
for non-SP2 machine via that route

Andrew;
As Alex suggested, you need to read carefully.
A slight misunderstanding or twist of the truth can change the meaning
and appear to say something entirely different.
