Careful preparation assures a successful outcome for the overwhelming
majority of users installing SP 2. Moreover, this is the best advice for a
user who cannot identify their issues any more specifically than to say
"computer unstable" and "programs hang".

As it is only 10% of users who have problems, we cannot be sure that it is
"careful preparation" which avoids these. If simply removing and
re-installing solves the problems, then it is likely to be something about
the installation process itself that is causing the problems. If there is
something wrong with the setup of the computer, one would expect the second
installation to have exactly the same effect. Either way, "careful
preparation" is likely to be as useful as sprinking holy water on the
computer. Do we have any statistics for the efficacy of that?

Good luck to you, my friend.

OK, then - which particular aspect of "careful preparation" do you think is
likely to be most efficacious?

Thank You, by just deleteing the cookies it freed the
system up, and shows no sign of the problems that I
experienced the last few days.
