I installed SP2 with no problems, but it causes my pc to pause constantly
(very irritating) and have had to uninstall it.

Any ideas what causes this as I want to install it eventually?

My OS is XP Pro.

Before installing SP2 make sure all your software/hardware/drivers are up
to date, check for spyware/viruses (Adaware SE/Spybot Search &
Destroy/CWShredder plus a good virus remover). Start/Control
Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Free up space.... also defrag (before and
afterwards). Make sure you have at least 2gb free disk space. Close down
all unneccessary programs and read here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/sp2/sp2_whattoknow.mspx .
Once it's installed and if you already have a good firewall program, make
sure Windows Firewall is switched off (Control Panel/Security Center).
Again do a defrag/free up space etc.

Thanks. I have tried installing it twice now, doing thorough checks both
times.

I turned of SP2's firewall but it didn't help.

I have 10.8 GB of free space.

I shall try doing a defrag then reinstalling, but I don't hold up much hope!

Any other suggestions would be most helpful.
