I do not have high speed internet so I was going to order
the CD which is now available. Anyone knows how long the
download will take? I have a fairly new computer with
Window XP home and quite a bit of space and memory.

Are there advantages or disadvantages to doing it this
way? thanks. Monique

your download is also dependent on network spped, which you specified that is
not high speed.

You can try CD option.

Hi Monique,

Before you download or order the SP2 disc I would read
about some of the problems people are having with it. For
instance after downloading it to my computer, it asks you
to restart your computer. Now my computer will not bott
into safe mode or any other mode forthat matter. If I
were you I would wait a little while until some fixes are
out before you download it. It is very large and on my
cable modem it took me about 45 minutes to get everything
onto my computer. As you've already read above I am very
upset about the problems I am haveing.
If you have a virus program and your windows fire wall
on you should be ok for a while.

Good luck,

David

the install is not as big a issue as many would lead you to believe.
you have a new machine, so drivers should be ok.
1. set your pc to automatically download the sp2 update, even with a slow
connect
speed the update will pick up where it left off each time you log in.
(you won't have
to start over each time)
2. order the cd from microsoft, its free and if you ever have to reinstall,
its nice to have
the cd available it takes 4-6 weeks for delivery of the cd.
3. hopefully you have anti-virus software already.
4. note for future: if you keep your software and drivers updated you wont
run into most of the problems that people seem to be having.
