I'm running XP home edition.

After installing SP2 I can't see OE express in the programs list. What I
really want to do is create a shortcut to it for my desktop.

I can get OE express started on the Help & Support Center after searching on
it. I can't create a shortcut from here.

I can start OE express by clicking on the various msimn.exe I can find.
However all of these result in the body of the messages being blank.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hi Roger
Try this
click windows explorer , click program files , click outlook express , right
click on msimn , click copy ,right click your desktop up top in windows
explorer , click paste.
Now you should have a shortcut on your desk top.
Hope this is what you are looking for.

Probably Windows Explorer is shown under All Programs / Accessories
expand Accessories /towards the bottom you will see Windows Explorer

You want to navigate to Program Files which is usually found under
my computer / C: drive / Program Files / Outlook Express

right-click on msimn.exe which gives you a choice to create a shortcut
create the shortcut and drag it to the desktop; if the window is minimized
somewhat, it is easier to see the desktop underneath in order to do the drag

New messages are always blank until you fill them in.

You can select some message from your Inbox (or double-click)
and then click reply which will load that text into OE reply window
If you mean this last phase is not working, reinstall OE, then use
your backup of OE email and settings by importing your backup.
If you have not made a backup, now you know why it is recommended.

Some people who have installed SP2 lost the directory
where their email is stored in the .dbx format. Do you
mean your inbox is blank/empty? Or that the text inside the
a selected message is not displayed. If you mean the last
I am not sure how to fix it easier than a reinstall, though such
a solution may exist. If you mean your Inbox is empty
use groups.google.com to search and find the solution if
you have recently installed SP2.

In OE, under Tools --> Options --> Send
there is a checkbox to tick which says
include message in reply

If that box is unchecked then the original message will not be quoted.
If that box is checked, then Apply then OK there will be the
original message text quoted when you click on Reply.
