SP2 messing up program listing

I had installed SP2 and removed it cause it was giving me grief. My concern
was that after I installed both the IT version and CD version. My program
listing in the start menu under program location was all out of order.
Meaning program and files I installed previous to SP2 were in alphabetical
order both exe shortcuts and folder shortcuts. After SP2 they were placed at
the bottom of the programs listing in the order they were installed and
rather then automatically alphabitically as in the previous setups. I have
right now went back to SP1 with full updates up to the point to Install SP2.
If your wondering where I am referring to my issues. If you go to the
"Taskbar" and click on "Start" then go to "Programs" that is were I am
talking about in SP1 all the files and folders were in order but under SP2
that didnt happen how you installed it-it was alwasy placed at the bottom of
the list rather then in alphbetical order. This has been my biggest "Grip"
about SP2-most of the other feature of SP2 have worked ok so far but til I
get that file order resolved I dont think I jump to SP2 til microsoft or
someone with more technical savy can tell me what is going on. My system
installed as of now is "Win XP PRO SP1 with most recent updates" and
Zonealarm pro 4.5.538 and Norton System Works 2004 pro all updated including
WMI-but as before none of these two program affected install and use of
SP1-including leaving AV running in norton on SP1 install, that what I don't
get about SP2!

Alphabetizing your Start Menu
1. First click on the start button
2. Move your mouse to "All Programs"
3. Move your mouse to any of the folders there
4. Right Click
5. A box will open up, scroll to "Sort By Names" and click

That is one way to avoid fixing the problem but that doesn't fix or answer
the problem of why it keeps doing that on SP2. I been told from other users
to do that but like I tell them does that fix the problem "no". That is what
is frustrating to me and I know you have this problem-that is why your
telling me those steps. What I wrote about is how the file order was done
automatically in alphabetical not by the "sort by name" command and that was
under SP1. Even SP1 downloaded from the net didn't do that to my computer but
now SP2 downloaded and CD does it.

I too encountered this problem. Since I installed SP2 and the antispyware by
microsoft, i have not been able to sort my program listing. Nor is there a
pop-up when i "right-click" on one of the program listed in the list which
should have enable me to select the "Sort by names" option.

Please advice.... the list is getting too messy and worse is.... i cant
scroll down to the latest add-ons in the list...

thanks in advance..

You need to enable the "Enable Dragging and Dropping" Option in your start
menu properties. Follow these steps:

Classic Start Menu:
Right-click Taskbar, Properties, click Start Menu tab, choose Customize
Enable the option "Enable Dragging and Dropping."

For New Start Menu:
Right-click Taskbar, Properties, click Start Menu tab, choose Customize
Click "Advanced" tab and enable the option "Enable Dragging and Dropping."
