SP2 keeps Outlook from Sending & Receiving e-mail

After adding SP2 Outlook 2000 & 2003 stopped automatically sending/receiving
e-mail from Exchange. After a little research I found:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/883606 which basically says it is an issue -
the work around is not really acceptable.

To work around this problem, click a folder other than the Outbox folder, or
open any e-mail message. This action sends a remote procedure call (RPC) to
the Exchange server, and the e-mail messages in your Outbox folder are sent.

Short of Removing XP SP2 has anyone found a solution?

Andre, the OP specifically mentioned XP SP2.

There is not SP2 for Outlook 2003.

Sorry if I was not clear - Windows XP Service Pack 2 - It does not seem to
matter what version of Outlook.

Having similar problem, exhange server connection is working but http mail
connection to MSN Mail does not work. XP SP1 computer on same network with
same Outlook 2003 Config works.
Does an exception need to be made in SP2's firewall?
