Although I have turned on automatic updates and have,I thought prepared my
computer to install SP2.( per all instructions provided.)SP2 can not install
and I recieve an error code .I have The free installation CD now and also the
same problem. As this takes hours to do I don't think I will be trying it
again anytime soon.In my experience with my computerthe rule "if it ain't
broke don't fix it " applies. Some thing tells me that this latest
contribution to the age of computers is a real piece of CRAP!

"if it ain't broke don't fix it " still applies.
The problem is that without the updates it may be "broke".
Just because problems are not seen does not mean they are not there.

The fact you are having a problem installing SP-2 is an indicator
itself of a preexisting problem with your computrer.
All problems known and unknown should be resolved before installing

Some swear on a clean XP install followed by SP2 update - or better,
slipstream the SP2 into XP. And it shouldn't take hours unless it's an older
system.

O.K.Michael,I had other issues prior to installation of SP2 and performed a
complete system recovery. Is this what you mean by a "clean install" I am as
the name implies a mechanic....What is slipstream?
