Another way to download sp2 is directly from the link below it quite a big file so depending on your connection to the internet, it may take a
while.
If you want to install SP2, please take the following steps:

1. Please download Windows XP SP2 from the following link:

2. Restart your computer and start pressing the F8 key on your keyboard.
3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, select Safe Mode, and then press Enter.
4. Log onto Windows by using the local Administrator account and password.
5. Temporarily disable or uninstall the anti-virus software and firewall installed on the computer.
6. Double-click the WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU.exe file you have downloaded to install it.
NOTE: The password is blank by default unless you have already set a password. In
Safe Mode, your system display and desktop will look and perform differently than
in normal mode. This is only temporary.

If you want to remove SP2, please take the following steps:

4. Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\System32\restore\rstrui.exe in the Open box, and then click OK.
5. Click Restore my computer to an earlier time, and then click Next.
6. Click the date that you installed Windows XP SP2, and then click Installed Window XP Service Pack 2 in the Restore Point box.
7. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on the screen to remove Windows XP SP2.
