I went ahead and installed SP2 hoping for the best since I have a new
system, got a blue screen right after the XP logo screen on the reboot that
goes by so fast I cannot write down any info from it. After giving up on
getting any info on several boot attempts I booted into safe mode and was
able to successfully uninstall SP2. Besides a few quirks (wireless
networking did not work without redoing settings and the media player
options seemed to be all reset) I am back to my normally functioning WinXP
Pro SP1 system.
Now what do I do? Is anyone aware of a plan to improve SP2 to work with a
higher percentage of systems since it seems that more than a handful of
folks are having problems with it? I am assuming that I want every security
solution Microsoft adds to WinXP.
Has Microsoft announced any plans for a new & improved SP2? I am hoping
that with more testing an updated SP2 can be released before I get left
behind in security updates. Any info appreciated. :^)

p.s.: In case anyone else has the same combo -- I just built this Athlon64
3200+ system using an Abit KV8-MAX3 mobo, 2x512MB DDR, Nvidia Ti4600 video,
Linksys WMP54G wireless PCI card, and an Epson Photo 960 USB printer.
Nothing out of the ordinary, all drivers updated to latest... not a lot of
software installed above WinXP Pro (this is my primary game machine).
