Sorry everyone, I have to report that my installation went fine and all
applications are functioning as before. Having read read here about things
going wrong, I was a bit nervous about installing SP2. So if you have been
thinking about it - don't be put off - take the plunge.

Have you actually made a contract with the devil?

I can't say EVERYTHING is running fine - haven't run every program yet, but
I've been pleased thus far.

Dear Microsoft;

I recently installed SP2 over my existing install of Windows XP Pro. The
installation completed without incident. Upon reboot, I am dismayed to find
that every application, every piece of software, and everything in general
is operating flawlessly. I have read in the newsgroups where installing SP2
will trash your computer, neuter your animals, stain your carpets, cause
your garbage can to leak all over the floor, and causes other mayhem as yet
unspecified.
I am writing to complain because NONE of this has happened here. How DARE
you release an update that WORKS!!! I mean, what are we to do if we don't
have something BAD to say about a MS patch/update/hotfix/service pack???
What were you guys thinking? I can't believe that you would release an
update that would install properly, do everything as promised, and not even
cause my email to be translated into Mongolian. I plan to contact all the
news agencies and inform them of this nefarious plot...I mean obviously you
have released a service pack that works, so that we will develop a
complacent attitude and then you'll strike with the next one!! I am not
blind...I see what you are doing!!!

***IMPORTANT****
Just in case you read the above and have no sense of humor, or you are Kerry
supporter (brain dead), the above was a very sad attempt at humor, and was
meant to make fun of the DOOM-N-GLOOM bunch that blames everything on their
computers on Microsoft.
I in no way meant to offend anyone, but if you are offended, you probably
deserve it, or you are a democrat, and in either case you don't count.

DITTOS!
I like the reference to the kool-aid drinkers, or the:

Ok ! That's it. You're banned.
Please do not post anything further to this newsgroup! ;-).

They say the devil has all the best tunes!! But if it makes you feel any
better, I now find a 'The driver detected a Controller error
on\device\Harddisk0|d' message at regular intervals in the Event
Viewer\system. These messages began at the date of SP2 installation. Happy
now! The good news is that the computer is running fine and every programme
has worked OK. Oh dear, there I go again!

Brian

The good
