SP2 freeze issue

I recently isntalled SP2, and since then have been having
frequent slow freezing of windows on the desktop. The
problem almost always starts with using the Start menu,
which doesn't go away and does not register a selection
made with the mouse. At other times, it is just
switching between open windows on the screen, via
clicking the window, the task bar, or alt+tab.

I've set auto update to alers only and turned off the
firewall. I use FireFox instead of IE, so I figure
that's not the issue (crashing seems unrelated to FF
use). Crashes are more frequent when running Outlook
2002.

Mind you, all of this seems to work sometimes. None of
it had problems before the upgrade, though.

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

Thanks in advance for any help. Until then, I'm removing
SP2 from that computer (hopefully I won't have to roll
the whole thing back).

First try updating your video drivers with the latest ones from the
device mftr.'s website. Do not use drivers from Windows Update.
