Hi ..
I have XP embedded evaluation version installed on my computer. I want to
update it with an eval version of SP2. I have registered, downloaded the
"download tool". When i execute it, it says "The download tool has detected
a licensed copy of Windows XP embedded." And it tries to direct me to the
OEM restricted site. What is the problem ?? Am i not allowed to evaluate SP2
with an already installed version of XPe.

Thanks for your time ..

Prakash,
I've been using an evaluation copy of XP Embedded for quite some time that I got
in shrink wrapped form for a small fee. When I tried to update it to SP2 I also
had a problem but I don't remember if the details were exactly the same. Then I
decided to install a fresh copy of SP2 on a different machine. I downloaded 3
CDs that I think the web site led me to believe were SP2 but they were SP1. I
installed this downloaded eval version and then I downloaded and installed an
SP2 update. This installation is working correctly albeit noticeably slower
than SP1. My biggest concern is about a 25% increase in image size that has
resulted.

Thanks for the reply. Its a pitiable situation. But anyway someone got to
clear this up .. Do i have to reinstall everything ..
Someone from the MS can help us !! please. I dont think an uninstall of SP1
(tools+database) would be clean enough
for SP2 to be installed correctly. And i dont want to clean my hard disk at
this stage.

thanks ..
