SP2 disconnects and slowdowns

Hi! Just updated to SP2 and (perhaps unlike a lot of folks) it solved tons of
my networking issues
- I am now able finally to fileshare and browse workgroup computers without
my PC crashing!

But certain quirks still appear and I was wondering if anyone has any
suggetions
- I get disconnected very frequently from my Wifi connection and immediately
afterwards get reconnected. It happens quite often (not before), but is this
a bug with SP2 or anyone have any fixes/suggestions? I don't have any
"trouble" connecting, just get disconnected and reconnected right away often
- Although I can access shared computers now, everything is MUCH MUCH
slower. At least it works, but has anyone else seen huge slowdowns? I don't
mean running programs off other computers, just browsing folders etc..

Hope someone can help!
cheers

I'm not sure if this'll solve your problem.

- Use this ping command to establish baseline home network condition:
ping <IpOfASharedComputer> -n 50
This will ping one of the shared computers 50 times (go to the
bathroom or something). Note packet loss and average round trip numbers
when it's done.

- Download lastest drivers and firmware for your router and network
cards from the manufacturer.
- Uninstall cards using the Device Manager (Start/Run, type in
devmgmt.msc). Let windows reinstall the cards.
- Update drivers for the cards using the Device Manager.

- Open up the router configuration website, write down any custom
settings that you may have changed.
- Update router firmware
- shutdown all computers
- do a hard reset of the router. Your router probably has a button for
a hard reset, look in the manual or download one from the manufacturer.
- Restart all computers
- Change any of your custom settings back the way they were. Restart
computers again if required.
- Try the ping command again and see if things have improved.

I did this and things did improve so the network works OK, but still not
like it used to. Maybe it'll work miracles on your network.

The slowdown is because of the new firewall. It make accessing shares on
workgroup computers ridiculously long. You need to tell it you have your
own and will monitor it yourself. Of course you may not want to do this if
you don't have a hardware firewall.
