SP2 Deja Vu

When it appeared, I downloaded SP2 and installed it
(using the automatic updates). Through control panel, I
can even see SP2 stuff listed among installed programs.
Since then, there were no hardware changes on this PC.
Just now, a new automatic update message popped up on my
PC, threatening to download 75-266MB worth of SP2. Again!
Can anybody tell me, please, what is going on here? Why
does WinXP want to download the same stuff again?

Make sure you have installed SP2
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Run dialog box, type winver
3. Click OK.
A dialog box displays the version that you are running.

Thanks. It's strange, though. If I do this, I get:
Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp2.030422-1633: Service Pack 1)

So what's this "xpsp2" and "Service Pack 1" mixed
together? ...and why do I have lots of SP2 stuff listed
among my installed programs? Could it be that SP2 has
changed and auto update is trying to download new
components of SP2? I thought SP2 is SP2 is SP2 and not
something that changes with the weather! Not to mention
the minimum 75MB it said it would download. Besides, I
HAVE downloaded SP2 earlier and installed it.

I'm confused.

Something's gone amiss, I agree with Mike

You can order SP2 on CD or download the Pack from MS.

What to Know Before You Download and Install Windows XP Service Pack 2

Mike, Taurarian, thanks for the advice and the useful
links. I bit the bulet and said yes to download SP2 and
did the winver thing afterwards. I definitely have SP2
now. I know, because it keeps bombarding me with security
messages that are a bit overzelous at times. Still, once
everything is sorted out, it should all settle down and I
can get on with err... my computing. Apart from that,
everything looks OK.
Thanks again.
