The subject may a bit dramatic, but, I am leery of re-installing it again,
because when I installed the first time, I had alot of issues. At this
moment I cannot remember what they were, but my pc really acted up.

If I do install it again, should I go to the site and get it there, or use
what is already on my pc?

Thanks for the help.

I too was concerned about installing SP2. I ordered the cd from microsoft. Then rather take a chance of corrupting my system, I made a new partition, installed and activated XP home and then installed SP2 via the cd. Its about a week now and so far no problems. In fact to the contrary, I got my tv tuner to work which I couldn't do for months with SP1. Give it a try and I would get that cd first. Its free from Microsoft.

Dan, I have often wondered about this and perhaps you know. Would she be
directly associated with (working for) such advertisers or do they pay a
small fee to posters who include their ads. Just wondering.

Sorry about the advertisments, it's there automatically and I forget to
remove when posting to groups. I'll comply. :-)

As for the cd, do you have a link to it? So much easier that way, as
sometimes I search for hours for something on that site.

Thank you for the web-link, DJ. I appreciate the help. :>

: You can order the SP2 CD here:

:
: Additionally, many "Big Box" stores (ie, BestBuy or Circuit City) still
have

: charged.)

Thanks for the help.

SP2 hasn't changed since it's release. Make sure you properly prepare
the system, and have full backup.

Get the full CD of it - it is available for download, but only takes a
few days free if ordered from
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/sp2/cdorder/en_us/default.mspx
or may still be at Customer services in places like Staples.

Run it as first thing after a new clean install, or after making sure
the machine is truly free of viruses; adware and third party system
utilities (eg Norton)

Thanks, Robear. I am pleased to see that you are still a part of the 98

I ordered the cd. I agree with you Alex that your operating system needs to
be free of Symantec (aka Norton products) and also behemoths like AOL.

Dan;
Symantec products may cause some issues but SP-2 installation issues is not
one of them.
Just like other programs, it is usually best to disable all of Symantec
products before installing SP-2
