After installing SP2 the system now blue screens with Stop: c000135
{unable to locate components} winsrv.dll was not found.
Is there any way ro roll back SP2, or to fix this problem?

I am just a novice and you will probably get better
advice. But I have sp2 listed in add remove programs. If
it is listed there you could try and remove it. But that
does not explain the problem.

Thanks Sammy, but the machine bluescreens during XP startup - it never
gets to the point where you can even log on!

Can you go into Safe Mode?

No - that also bluescreens, although I can see a list of drivers etc
being installed.

Have you got your data backed up? I'm not sure but it seems that you may
have to reinstall XP.

Before trying that, and assuming you have a 'proper' CD of Windows in
the first place. Set the BIOS to boot CD before Hard Disk. Boot the XP
CD and, instead of Setup, take the immediate R for Repair. Assume any
password requested is blank, and TAB over.

Do

COPY C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\winsrv.dll
C:\Windows\System32\winsrv.dll

(all on one line - will probably wrap here)
Which should restore the one that SP2 should have left in the
ServicePackFiles folder.

If it cannot be found even there, you could try restoring the original
one from the CD; assuming that is seen as D: which it probably will be

COPY D:\i386\insrv.dl_ C:\Windows\System32\winsrv.dll

and hope that this will run adequately

Help Me!!

I have just spend the last 3 hours trying to find a solution in forums accross the net and have found nothing that might work.

I was on my computer tonight, Windows XP Pentium 4 HT, 250gb hard drive, 1gb RAM and well frankly it should be working fine. all new parts and i have had a few problems in the past but ive fixed them all. I also have all updates available to my knowledge

Talking on Msn messenger and out of NOWHERE i get the BSOD telling me windows needs to restart dumping pysical memory etc... Once restarted it loads the windows logo and then straight to
c0000135 error, cannot load winsrv, try re-installing program etc..

i have tried re-installing and reparing XP from cd but when i go to reinstall it wont copy files from the CD. these files are - oletk32.dll, unicode.nls, cga80woa.fon, cga40woa.fon, ctype.nls, kbdus.dll So once i skip these files it trys to load and restarts to blue screen saying - Setup is restarting............... then to the c0000135 error again.

i am willing to try anything again but i wanted to get this info out there to see what ppl have to offer. I need all the info on my HD so re-formatting just isnt feasible right now.

i can access the recovery console and my bios settings just fine.

i cant get into windows and i need HELP!!! someone please please please help me!!!

this shouldnt have anything to do with installing SP2 because i installed that however many years ago. The last thing that was in use before this happened was winrar and i was on MSN messenger. I did not download anything. nobody sent me anything and i use bitdefender internet security.

I just want to get up and running again. PLEASE HELP ME !!!!

BSOD missing winssv.dll

not sure if you still need help but i have only just restored my computer back to normal after BSOD 000135 and uninstalled sp2.

use this if you can't even access safe mode

http://support.microsoft .com/kb/875350/ - i used an xp professional cd despite having xp h e on my computer.

The COPY command solved the issue in no time. Great fix. Thank you!
