I recently installed SP2 and ever since I have been
unable to use my file sharing software. I have already
enabled the use of the software through the exceptions in
the new firewall software but it still does not work.
Does anyone have any info as to why this will not work.
I am attempting to use Kazaa for purely legit reasons - I
share files with researchers in many parts of the world -
the files are too big to email so we share via Kazaa. I
understand that (rumor) that MS disable Kazaa through the
instalation of SP2 - is this true? Can I turn it back on?

You cannot open Sharman Networks Kazaa version 2.52 in Windows XP with Service Pack 2

Well, SP2 introduced the concept of restricted full TCP/IP connections
for "security" purposes. SP1 allowed unlimited full TCP/IP connections,
but SP2 limits these to TEN, although it will buffer (I just corrected
"bugger", which is more appropriate) connections in the order received
(firm but fair). There is a "fix" for this: Google: SP2 limit fix. It
is quite innocuous, although the security purists will froth and spit in
an apoplectic fit about using it. It is best to have a working firewall
when applying it.
