Should this be coming up as an available update in Windows Update now?

.... cos for me it aint :-)

SP1 Availablity Timetable:

March 18, 2008: Vista SP1 available by manually going to Windows Update web site.

April 18, 2008: Vista SP1 pushed via automatic download from Windows Update.

I keep refreshing the "check for updates" and what do I get "Windows is up
to date" and no service pack 1, such frustration. With all of these articles
of people installing sp1 one would think it would be available. But, I did
read on several articles it would be available to windows vista users that
use "automatic updates" in mid-april? is this true? Whereas people who order
vista with sp1 on amazon and overnight it can have the update tomorrow.

Thanks, Carey. Is it all right if I use the large file d/l for one
computer update or is there some significant reason that I should wait
another month for the Windows Update version? I don't mind the large d/l.
I just wondered of both would do just as well on a Home Premium machine.

Nothing fancy, just simple Home Premium.

Thank you!

You can use the large download. The only difference is updating through
Windows Update will cause your system to download only those components it
needs, whereas the large download can update anything. Frankly, I'd
recommend downloading the large standalone so you can keep it on hand in
case you ever have to re-install Vista from scratch; that way you won't have
to download it again.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation
from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates:

Thank you! I'm still not getting anything on update. I want to check one
driver but if that's ok, I'm just going to grab the biggie.

I got it through my Windows Update for my 32 bit Home Premium system.

First when I clicked Windows update it told me I was already up to date. I
hit the "check for updates" option and got a windows defender update. It
downloaded and installed. Once that was done the update window popped-up
again and gave me the SP1 option at 66mb+ which ended up being a 70mb +
download.

3 part process to install that went well.

Carey not sure what is going on but i just ran windows update and received 2
updates one of which was sp1
i am running home premium 32 bit

it was 66 mb

tokk about 45 minutes to install

Update...... shortly after making this post Vista SP1 was available to me in
the Windows Update. Install went nicely :)

I have 2 notebooks with Home Premium and yesterday one "pushed" SP1
and I downloaded it and installed it with no problem.

Nothing on the other one so far.
