SP1 installed but not recognized by Windows Update

I installed SP1 on my OEM Home XP machine by running the whole SP1.exe I
had downloaded and everything went well.

Problem is, Windows Update still offers me to install SP1. How can I
tell that SP1 is indeed installed, and how can I convince Update that it is?

I have a similar problem after doing a repair instal in my case it is XP
Pro. After completing all the updates windows Update continues to offer to
install two drivers which have been already installed by device manager
(from CD's called for during the repair).
I can see that the drivers are there in the update history but cannot stop
it from keep trying to install the driver and failing - becuase they are
already there. I tried deleting the catroot files but that did not help.
