Greetings.
I have tried a few times to install the SP1 service pack,
but after the 1.9MB file downloads and a dialog box shows
up to accept it, within 7 seconds I get the red x message
that installation has been cancelled. I did not cancel
it myself. All other updates installed without a
problem. I was going to use SP1a first, but since I'm
having trouble even getting SP1, I went ahead and
installed all the other critical and some non-critical
updates, along with Java 2 Runtime.
I would appreciate some insight as to why this is and if
SP1 is too troublesome.
System: XP Pro - Installed yesterday from a CD obtained
1st quarter of 2001 (so SP1 did not come with it)
Drive - 120GB partitioned at 10GB w 7.4GB still free.
Thank you so kindly!
