I've been trying to download SP1 from MS. It says it is
1.9 Mb but then proceeds to download other stuff taking
the DL time to over the 2 hour limit that Freeserve UK
allows
Any ideas?
Many thanks

MS downloads support resume. When your ISP(?) cuts you off,
reconnect, press BACK, start the download again, it should
pick-up where it left off.

Use the Windows Download catalog and download the same items
that Windows Update selected, but use a download manager,
such as Fresh Devices Fresh Download, it will allow you to
control resume.

Pay for a real ISP.

You can order the XP service pack 1 on CD from Microsoft UK for free.

http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsxp/servicepacks/sp1.asp

The resume that Jim referred to will work if you have the time (and I know
the Freeserve connection is not free - though hopefully you're on their
Anytime scheme), but having the service pack on CD will ease the hassle of
re-installing should that be necessary in the future.

Hope that helps
Pete
