Is there a difference between doing the updates individually (other than the
obvious) or installing the SP's as a whole?

thanks

SP2 includes SP1.

Alias

I'm sorry, what I meant was rather than doing SP2 or SP1 updates doing each
update individually (picking and choosing). Are all the updates listed
individually the same as the ones included in the SP's?

if you have to ask that, I might suggest that you roll back your
system to Win 1.0

Nice handle, BTW! Eventually, Bill the Gates will make you do
SP2, but not right now. If you have /excellent/ backups of your
entire system, including a really good image of your entire
Windoze partition, then go for it. Once you go with The Force
and eschew the Dark Side, you won't regret it.

But, upgrade to SP2 without taking /all/ the precautions
Microcrap recommends is virtually guaranteed to land you in
Murphy land.

Too bad you think everyone should be computer literate and on top of things.
I have done the SP's in the past and had problems after, why I don't know
since I'm not a computer guru. Also, currently there are optional updates
that I have done that have messed up my system
so I am leary of blindly downloading updates even if from Microsoft, but
thanks for you understanding.

There are updates that are not included in the latest service pack.

So you want to Get SP2, then check for updates.
