SP 4 Install fail

During an installation of SP 4 it fails with the massage

Windows 2000 The core system file (kernel) used to start
this computer is not a microsoft windows file. The service
pack will not be installed.

If anybody has a glue, help please. Thanks in advance.

I strongly suggest you wait until the problems regarding post-SP4
installation functionality of the OS are resolved. Looks like you should NOT
install SP4 until all current problems (see the various SP4 related posts)
are addressed by MS...
