My Dell computer came with XP Home installed but did not
include SP-1.
When SP-2 is available, will I need to have SP-1 installed
before I can download SP-2?

No. All you need to do is install SP2 once it becomes available
in a few weeks or so.

If you recently bought your dell than I would complain about not getting the
latest operating system first. If not, then I imagine there will be plenty
of instruction.
