I recently upgraded my computer to XP, and any kind of
sound played from any program comes out unrecognizable.
I have a creative labs sound blaster pci 128 sound card
with the latest drivers that are digitally signed by
microsoft. I cant think of anything else to try, and I
really don't want to downgrade back to 98se...

Any help would be appreaciated.

When you say you have the latest drivers "digitally signed.." does that
mean you downloaded them from Creative's website? If you only got them
from Windows Update, try going to Creative instead.

I did get the drivers from creative, I also tried
reverting to the ones on windows update. Also, I tried
all the steps on the sound troubleshooting guide.

Does sound work correctly using a different card? Perhaps the actual
soundcard is failing.

something to try

remove the sound card from the device manager
shutdown
remove card
reboot
then shutdown again
install card if possible in a different slot
then reboot
