Sound Volume

After tinkering with the volume on my computer recently, the sound is very
faint, and no matter what I do to try and adjust it via the volume controls,
it remains that way. I'm relatively certain that this is not a hardware
problem, rather, I think I just screwed up the settings. Is there any
procedure that I may follow that will allow me to correct this greivous error?

No, I'm sure it's not a hardware issue. The computer is brand new, and until
a few days ago it was fine. The sound works, it's just really soft. Thanks,
though.

okey dokey good luck. but you may want to look at your bios screens and see
if you might have disabled the on board sound. or look at the system icon in
control panel and see if you might have disabled by accident.

Since we don't know what "tinkering" you did, try a System Restore to
before you got busy.

Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
"Restore my computer to an earlier time"

BTW, although I don't think this is a hardware issue since you can
connect the sound problems to your tinkering, the fact that hardware is
new is no guaranty it won't fail. In fact, if hardware is going to fail
it will usually do so pretty soon after you buy it.
