History:
installed windows xp-pro a coule of weeks ago. everything was working fine
including my CMI8738/C#DX PCI sound card, (the onboard card a sis 7012 has
been disabled), last week my sounds quit working, I was able to get it
reinstalled and was working fine til i rebooted. I restored the system to a
earlier time, which worked until I rebooted the sytem. I reinstalled the
dirvers and they worked fine until yesterday. I tried to reinstall them
again....no dice this time... so I reinstalled windows XP-Pro, and also
reinstalled the drivers. The system is telling me that all is working and
winamppro is showing that i am playing sounds but still nothing coming out.
Have tied the speakers on a different system, they work. Have tried a
different sound card (but same type, just new)...no conflicts.

the Problem:

no sounds, although the systems is telling me there is no conflicts, and the
card and mixer is enabled, still no sound.

any suggestions??

See if any of your devices are Muted under Volume Control.
Rightclick the Sound icon (probably next to clock)> Open Volume Control.

Hi Byte, forgot to tell you that was also checked...all is unmuted (none
checked) and all at full volume, same with the recording mixer's, also, made
sure that the card was enabled and it shows that i do have a mixer and let's
me change volume and sound on the sound scheme.......

still same problem no sound although it appears that the sound s are playing
