When I start recording via the sound recorder, I only
have 60 seconds or recording time. Can this time be
lengthened?

60 seconds is the time limit for Sound Recorder. The easiest workaround for
this is to copy a WAV file that is longer in duration and record over it.

At the end of the 60sec you can press 'Record' again and it will extend the
file another 60sec, this can be done ad-infinitum until you have sufficient
length for what you want.
Of course said will cause breaks in your recording but you will have a
larger file that you can save and record over.
