sound not working

I was trying to organize my files and now none of my sounds work. my sounds
and audio devices properties say that I have no audio device when clearly I
did not remove any hardware. I do have sounds from error messages which are
not the usual, they must be default sounds if something like this happens.
does anyone have any soultions for me to try?

Tried downloading and installing the latest sound card hardware driver from
the manufacturer's support web page?

Where did my Sounds go?
 
It seems perhaps you have moved your sound files when you "organized" your
files. Start up commands to find your sound software can't find the files
or devices. You probably will need to reinstall your sound software.
