sound not working in windows

Has there been any reports from downloading updates #
330994 and 818529 causing any problems with the sound in
windows functions. Everything is properly set and if I
check the sounds out from the sounds properties they do
work. However I have no sound when starting windows or
closing down and no mail notification sound. Thank you,
