Using PP 2002, Win XP
I developed a PP presentation. Inserted sound on the first and last slides.
The presentation and sound worked fine in my computer.
I copied the presentation to a web page. Created a link to the PP
presentation file.
No sound.
Then, I realized that the inserted sound was pointing at two files in my
hard drive.
To solve the problem I re-inserted the sound using the pointer to where the
files were in the web.
No sound.
What am I doing wrong? It may be very simple, but I can't figure it out.
Help please.

who are you using as a web server? because i have found that some free
servers wont let you use sound on the website!

For more web based help email me at (e-mail address removed)

I am using a web hosting service (ValueWeb). The web site was developed by me
for our adult-retired community (1,500 homes). The hosting service supports
FP extensions. I already have movie clips, animations, etc. and there are no
limitations.
You can visit the site at www.rhcc-fl.com
I can only assume that the problem is related to when the PP presentation is
created with the Insert, Sound and the link to its source. First I copied the
sound to the web's documents folder in my computer. Then I inserted the sound
from the web's documents folder.
When I save the PP presentation, embed fonts included, I then copied the
presentation to the web's document folder in my computer. I placed a link on
another web page to the PP presentation.
The last step is to publish the web on the hosting server.
When viewed, the whole presentation, including animations shows fine, but no
sound.

What type of sounds are you trying to insert? Are you publishing your
presentation as an htm file? Or, just uploading your PowerPoint presentation?

That creates a link to the sound file in the web documents folder *on your
computer's hard drive* - not to the sound file on the web server.

You'll either need to convert the presentation to HTML or use WAV sound files and
force them to embed (which may make for very large presentations)

The sound is mp3-format, music number.
I am inserting a link to the PP presentation, within a web page.
For testing purpose to share the presentation (preview) with a couple of
Computer Club members, I place the link in a light grey text "PPT Preview".
I will remove it once I get it working, then it will be use during a
Computer Club presentation. Here is the web page:

Thanks for helping.

Like Steve said to embed the sound, you will have to convert them to WAV files,
which could produce a very large presentation. Also, all the people who download
the presentation must have either the full version of PowerPoint or the Free
PowerPoint Viewer installed on their computers. If you publish your presentation
to a web page then all the viewer requires is their internet browser.

If you would like to see an online version of the sound over sound and a full
screen PowerPoint presentation on how to do all this, then visit here and follow
the links http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00303.htm
