Sound issues - from internet, not media player

I have a Dell Optiplex G260 running Win XP Pro... I haven't installed
anything new - except an "alternative" browser (sshhhh..) - anyway, I cannot
hear sounds in Flash movies online (i.e. tutorials, etc.) or e-cards and
things of that nature. Windows Media Player works with both a CD and the
library files.

I've troubleshooted / troubleshot and downloaded drivers from Dell and
nothing seems to be working. Device Manager show no conflicts.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Since you're getting sounds from other sources, we can rule out hardware
completely, and rule out software drivers. One question: when you visit the
same sites using IE, are you able to hear sounds? The first thing to do
here is isolate the conditions under which the problem does and does not
occur.

Repost with info.

Hi Bob,
No, I don't get the sound from IE either - I don't really mind about cards,
and the email stuff, but this is a Flash tutorial that I'd kinda like to
hear! I have tried accessing the same tutorial from work and I can hear it
there.
