Had to reinstall Windows 2000 Pro. Basically everything
went fine. However, when playing ANY sound/audio file,
it's soud fast, like Loony-Toon. Regardless if the source
is a WAV file or playing(trying) from CD.
Please advice.

Everything but the soundcard driver that is? :-) Figure out what sound
hardware you REALLY have and then install the correct driver.

The sound HW is on the motherboard; I believe that it
emulates Sound Blaster 16. Isn't WIN 2000 automatically
detects it and apply the correct driver? Eventually it
detected something and sound can be heard??

Emulates is not going to get you very far, with the present drivers it
emulates the chipmunks. Obviously Win 2000 used what appeared to be the
correct one but it isn't! Visit the website of the manufacturer of
your motherboard and determine what the soundchip is. You may even find
the drivers there.
