Sound in Media Files, No Sound in Apps

Bad Sir Ivan

The subject pretty much says it all. When I play MP3s, AVIs, MPGs or
DVDs I have sound. However, in all of my apps, there are none of the
audible prompts, etc., that are part of the apps that I use. Any ideas?
