Sound doesn't work on CD

I bought my nephew a computer a couple weeks ago and now it has a sound
problem. If he plays a DVD it sounds great but when he plays a game in the
CD drive the volume is so low you can hardly hear it. Opened the sound panel
and nothing is muted or lowered. Any suggestions???
 
Is your drive a combo drive (DVD/CD) or are they two separate drives?
You did not state. Separate drives have different settings, which may be
the cause of your problem. You can chech the volume setting of your CD-Rom
drive here: Start/Control Panel/Sounds and Audio/Properties
