Can anyone see my latest posting of soul:
alt.comp.freeware links at Tue Jul 4 21:20:04 2006

I can see it on Gary Schmidt's machine, but it doesn't show on my own
machine. I might have my spam filters tuned to aggressively on
Thunderbird - which is why I ask if anyone else can see it.

Thanks for the response. At least I know it's working. As regards the
time displayed, it may be a feature rather than a bug ;) 21:20 is the
time that the host machine in OZ thinks is the time, whereas 12:20 is
the time according to your client software. I'm now overly perturbed by
that.

I saw an instance where there was some date peculiarity, causing the
post to be shown out of sequence. I don't intend to investigate this
anomoly just yet. So long as stuff is getting through, I'll probably
leave it for now.

No, I can't see them.
I don't have spam filters here locally, I think they are filtered by the
news server.

No, nothing there.

Bugger, I think that there may be a problem...

Nothing in failed.postings since June 29...

Obviously get to n.i.n., and Google,

Usual cause is that the message ID is duplicated... It could be the
"paranoia..." bit, I'll add it to the DNS space, and see if that fixes it.

Cheers,
Gary B-)

I think that's a pretty good bet. There were some big,
well-connected carriers in the paths you posted; I think most
servers are being offered it and some just dropped it. AFAIK, they
don't do rDNS lookups on MIDs, but just the presence of 'paranoia' may
trigger filters. IIRC, there's a 'paranoia' remailer. Course, my
guess could be completely wrong. Good luck!

Interesting. Because I can see the posts come through on my
news.sunsite.dk account. Weird. Maybe the problem is similar to the one
I offered to do for Susan, where I seemed to have posted it correctly,
but it never made it to the list.

I'm not familiar with the mechanics of running news servers, I just know
enough client-side stuff to get by.

Okay, _some_ of my posts get through, to the servers that seem not to
get SOUL.

Try sending each message twice - there have been times when one server
starts dropping every second message from somewhere, and by the time it
propagates around the other way it is too old. Some servers treat 3
days as too old, which is far too short a time, IMHO.

Hmmm . OK, done. It should activate in the next round. But it gets
through to my server - so it's a bit strange.

Okay, I've been loking at the headers, nothing shows up, other messages
from here appear fine, but the doubled messages don't show up.

Only obvious differences are that the SOUL headers don't have Mime and
Content headers.

Working at generating some data, this thread may get a bit gibberish-ish!

Mark,
Drop the double posts the next ime you get a chance, it's not helping.

I'm looking at the headers.

I've changed the posting host, let's see what that does...
