I'd like to insert a table of contents (or figures) based on all the "Heading
6" text in my document, but I want the table sorted by the TEXT, not by page
number.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

You can unlink the TOF and sort it, but it might be easier to create an
index instead.

Thanks. How do you "unlink" a TOF? I presume that turns it into a
stand-alone table that I can then do a Table\Sort on?

Ctrl+Shift+F9. Turns it into plain text that can be sorted by paragraphs.
