Sort Alphabetically

I have six columns of entries. Each column of entries has several headings.
Under each heading the entries are sorted alphabetically but not the
headings themselves.

All is fine except for one list of entries that will not sort correctly.

Whatever I do it will insist on beginning with 'W' then F, I, K, P, S, T and
W again. The column then goes to "B" and lists correctly from there down to
W again. All the 'Ws' are, of course different words.

Can anyone help with this?

TIA

Ed

Hi Ed

It sounds as though a few entries have a space in front of them, or a
hidden character.
Try editing them and see if that clears the problem.

Yes, Roger, that was my original thought. I checked carefully but could
find nothing. Anyway, when I cut and pasted them elsewhere, re-sorted and
then re-typed them at the bottom of the list, they sorted okay. Obviously a
glitch of some sort, but I'd like to know how it happened so I don't have
the problem again.

I guess it's going to be one of Excel's many mysteries - at least to me!!

Thanks and best wishes,

Ed
