I post in this newsgroup because I am not able to post in the right newsgroup
(I don't even see anything there) and I hope I can contact Mr. Russel here too

The question is can I have both Windows XP PRO non64 and 64 on the
computerand use multi-boot function. The point is that I want to try the
64-bit version and to keep the old system, so I would't have to reinstall it
if I decided not to use the WinXP64 any more.

I hope the moderators are able to move the topic in the right group and i
also will be able to read it after that ;)

Your viewing problems are probably due to your using a web-based
interface, rather than a real news reader application. The correct
newsgroup would be microsoft.public.windows.64bit.general.

The question is can I have both Windows XP PRO non64 and 64 on the
computerand use multi-boot function.

Yes, you can dual-boot between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of WinXP Pro,
so long as you have a legitimate license for each. Just follow the
simple precaution of installing each to a separate hard drive or
partition, and install the older OS first.

The point is that I want to try the
64-bit version and to keep the old system, so I would't have to reinstall it
if I decided not to use the WinXP64 any more.

A sensible precaution, if you're not sure of the compatibility of your
hardware and/or applications.

I hope the moderators are able to move the topic in the right group and i
also will be able to read it after that ;)

This newsgroup is unmoderated.

I don't know that it ever was moderated, but it's certainly not been
moderated in all the years in which I've participated.

Actually, let me amend that, a bit:

I don't know that any Microsoft public newsgroup has ever been
moderated, but none of them (in which I've participated) have been
moderated in all of the years in which I've participated. As for this
specific newsgroup (and all other WinXP-specific newsgroups), I've
participated since its inception; it has never been moderated.

What about all those posts of Kurttrail that were removed?

There is a difference between the type of censoring we've seen here and
moderation. In a moderated newsgroup all messages are reviewed before
being posted to the group. The type of censoring that occurs in MS
newsgroups is done after the messages are posted.

OK, different terms then. It's not a moderated board but you might be
censored. Now I understand.

What about them? (Not that I'm too sure that any really ever have
been.) Off topic or offensive posts are frequently removed, but that
doesn't mean that the newsgroup is moderated.

By definition, in a moderated newsgroup *ALL* prospective posts are
first submitted to the group's Moderator, who decides whether or not
each submission gets posted, or relegated to the bit-bucket. All
messages are approved by the Moderator _before_ anyone else sees them.
