is there a program out there to detect and remove sony spyware from my
computer whenever i play their cd's (or even dvd's) on my computer ?

....preferably *FREEWARE*

You can use the MS Malicious Software Removal Tool;
Get and/or run the tool from here -

Make sure you don't use the patch provided by Sony. As well as getting
rid of the rootkit, it also disconnects your CD drive.

Lavasoft(adaware) have produced a freeware tool which seems easy and quick
to use.

Awesome program. The page you point to gives good info on how it works. A
bit spooky when you see stuff pop up after first running. After reading
the page and going to the forum it points to, you can search the forum
for issues you may have. My hundreds of flags turned out to be nothing
more than Norton hiding protected files. Empty the recycle and protected
files and things were clean.

LOL, well, that's one way to prevent reinstallation.
