OK, I need some help here, cos I've been trying to work
out whats wrong with my comp and its a no go so far!
Basically, I think its infected with something, BUT I cant
run Nortons LiveUpdate to get the latest definitions.
And when I run a full scan, it cant complete it!
Thats the main problem actualy, things not running!
If i go 'START> CONTROL PANEL>' then try to open/run most
of the programs within (ie ADD/REMOVE Programs, Display,
Fonts, System, etc etc) nothing happens whatsoever!
Anyone no a way around things, through things, or ANYTHING
that might help?
Will I have to use my XP disc to repair or reinstall
windows?
Thanks in advance.....

I had this problem when i was fixing a computer with a virus on it
Do you find you cant open or keep programs like regedit up for long i.e after maybe 5 seconds it closes the
(try it.. goto the run box and type in regedit.. see how long the program appears for

if it is what i think it is, goto the symantec website.. and do their online scan
when the scan compleates, look at the name of the virus and see if they have a separate program to remove it
otherwise look at the details of the virus and where it is kept.. restart your pc in safe mode (by pressing F8 at the boot screen) and manually delete the file.. go back to normal windows... and update your virus definitions and run a full system scan..

(I assume you are running norton.. sorry .. dont know much about macaffe)
