This is the 4th time that this has happend..

I am uploading a huge file 200~400 mb to a service like yousendit and then
something happens to my pc and it gets stuck and I have to reboot, but then
I have lost the upload and have to start again...

is there any free service or program that will have resume, so I can
continue where I left off?

thanks

I haven't come across any of the free upload services that provide this
option - browser based upload is very different (and clunky) from
uploading a file to something like an FTP server. Most people seem to
get round problems like this by using their archiver of choice to create
an archive split into chunks of the file (e.g. 40x10mb archives for a
400mb file) and upload them in batches - then if you find that your PC
seizes up, you just need to know which file to resume from rather than
doing the whole 400mb again. This method also saves people who have
download problems from having to repeatedly try and download the whole
file if they have problems.

I don't know what is wrong with your computer. You say it gets stuck? It not
normal for it to do that. Not trying to being a smart ass but If you fix the
reason your computer gets stuck you could probably complete the uploads.

if there is no other solution I will do this

There probably isn't, because the FTP protocol would have to be
reworked (again) to allow for resumed uploads.

seems that you are missing something:
http://www.coffeecup.com/free-ftp/

"It supports multiple server profiles, resumes broken uploads and downloads,
and can transfer files ...."

Its hard to find an ftp server that does not support broken uploads and
downloads
there are some still but seldom do I run into one.

Downloads, yes, but I haven't run into any that claim to support
broken uploads. Maybe I need to get out more.

my ftp server does.. I just dont want to use too much bandwidth, since there
are free services around

If you find one, let me know. The problem isn't just that browers have
no resume feature, but that brower uploads and downloads are way
slower than using a download manager, even without having to start
over.

Try using FileZilla for uploads. Or just map the FTP site as a
network site - that makes the "transfer" (drag & drop copy) pretty
fast.
