Something is downloading to my hard drive all the time. I have installed a
program to monitor my downloads and lately I noticed that there is a steady
download of .1 to 1.0 kbs. Overnight it downloaded 50mb. It is a small
amount but steady.
I thought initially, spyware but have run 4 programs with 2 of them outside
of my computer so not that. Checked processes and did not see anything
special there.
Any idea,..... anybody?

Download SysInternal's FileMon. Allow it to run/log I/O activity. It
should help run down the "Culprit". They also have a Process Explorer
that might help as well.
FileMon can be back traced, so you review the log.

If this just started after you installed some download monitor (a name
would be quite helpful), get rid of it and see if the problem is gone. If
so, don't use it because it sure sounds like spyware/malware. Run AdAware
and Spybot Search and Destroy (both are free). Not knowing what you used it
leaves to guess you used crap.

The program I installed is DU Meter. I ran spybot and adware SE. Plus Trend Housecall and Panda for online searching spyware and virus. Came up with 31 spyware in total form all the programs and no virus.
I have had DU Meter installed for months and the problem just recently occurred.

I'll try the program you mentioned ( R McCarty) that is
SysInternal's FileMon

Thanks I appreciate the input!!

netstat /b /v

Shows active connections, where they are connected to, and which programs and components are involved.

David, Where do you get that. I found netsat live but it isn't what you
talked about I believe.
Thanks

You don't get it; you've got it.

Open a command prompt and type "netstat /b /v" (no quotes)
